The Ants Go Marching...

The Ants Go Marching...

The Shawnee County Extension Office delivered an ant habitat with approximately 30 worker ants to our classroom.  Through the next two weeks we will be observing the working habits of ants, studying their life cycle, and learning more about the underground cities they create and the rooms where the work is done.  We feed and water them every three days and illustrate our observations as they create new tunnels in their anthill.  The following pictures show us searching for ant colonies on the school playground. We see ants everyday...but we are finding that we see them so very differently now!  Such hardworkers...such great team mates!  There's so much we have in common with these tiniest of insects!
