In Honor of Fire Prevention Month

October 

The firefighters showed us how quickly they are able to get all of their gear on.

Rhys tries his hand at spraying the same hose the firefighters us in real fires!

Abby takes a turn too...

We couldn't believe the amount of water that came spraying out of the hose at the top! 

A beautiful stream of water against the blue sky.  It was a perfect day for an outdoor field trip!

We Love Our New Science TECH Book! :)

This year we traded in our science TEXT books for our new TECH books.

Here we are on the ipads working through a 'fundamental activity' as we learn about the properties of matter and changes in matter.

 Matter: Solids, Liquids, Gases

Love that they don't even know I'm cruising around snapping pictures.  Aydin works her way through her activity...

Abby is learning how water can actually be found in three different states:  solid (ice), liquid (water), and water vapor (gas).

Rhys stops to show how much he's enjoying learning about matter.

Beth works her way through a two part activity that allows her to practice organizing objects into groups that are solids, liquids, and gases.  Then she drags each object to the scale to weigh the object's mass.

Pearson weighs his objects on the scale to measure the mass.

We took advantage of this beautiful fall weather to gather signs of fall around us by using our senses.  Students gathered up things found out in nature, put them in a baggie, and then wrote them down on their recording sheet.  They will then use their findings to help create fall writing during Writing Workshop.
